Welcome To Denali Tundra Tours!

Come experience the ultimate Alaska tourist attraction with Denali Tundra Tours, a locally owned and family-run tour company that has been operating in the Denali National Park area since the summer of 2011. We offer a number of daily Denali tours to suit the needs and interests of guests of all ages looking to enjoy the Denali tundra. If none of our scheduled tours fit your availability, or if you are looking for a private tour, we offer custom tours built to accommodate your schedule and interests (click here or in “The Tours” tab above). TripAdvisor has awarded Denali Tundra Tours a “Certificate of Excellence” and we have consistently ranked among the top excursions in the Denali National Park area since our first year in operation. Take an adventure with us and let us show you why we are one of the best Alaska tourist attractions to visit!

Experience Denali the Alaskan way on an ATV tour with our four hour* Alaskan Argo ATV Adventure. The Argo, an amphibious six wheeled ATV that seats two adults and two children comfortably, will keep you warm and dry while enjoying the experience. For some, our Kawasaki Teryx (seats four) or Polaris Ace (solo) may be preferred. After getting familiar with your vehicles, our qualified and professional guides will narrate the tour as you traverse varying types of terrain and take in the breathtaking scenery that surrounds the trail. After the ATV portion of the tour, relax and unwind with a complimentary beverage and snack at our exclusive ridge top Pavilion. Take in the fantastic 360° views with our tripod mounted spotting scopes, or scan for wildlife fireside with a pair of provided high quality binoculars.

In addition to the Alaskan Argo ATV Adventure we offer a comfortable three and a half hour** Alaskan Picnic Tour. After visiting various points of interest around the Denali area and local year-round town of Healy, the tour will stop at our exclusive ridge top Pavilion. Our viewing gallery is the only man-made building visible (with the exception of rustic Eight Mile cabin on the distant shore of tranquil Eight Mile Lake) for a breathtaking picnic lunch and/or slice of pie.

Stunning views of Denali (previously known as Mt. McKinley) are visible from both the Alaskan Argo ATV Adventure and the Alaskan Picnic tour, although sometimes weather can obscure the view as with most Denali tours. Weather, however, is NOT an issue when you’re with Denali Tundra Tours. We’ll keep you warm and dry while you explore the Alaska taiga and tundra, whether in our comfortable van or covered ATVs. The ATV Adventure or the Picnic Tour can be selected and booked using the links on this page for dates between May 2016 and September 2016. If you prefer to arrange a custom tour we’d be happy to work with you in order to suit your interests and schedule. Please call 907-683-ARGO (2746) or 210-471-1179 to discuss your Alaskan adventure.

*Around two hours of tour time is spent on ATVs.
**Around an hour of tour is spent at the actual picnic site.

“With Denali Tundra Tours you can enjoy a complete guided journey into the amazing Alaskan outback or a more sedate and tranquil picnic at our wilderness pavilion.”

Alaska Argo ATV Adventure

The Alaskan Argo ATV Adventure takes about 4 hours, from pick-up to drop-off. About 2 hours of that are on the ATVs. We launch from our Pavilion site near the end of Stampede Road. After your guide provides an important safety briefing, you’ll don your gear and get comfortable with your ATV. Then we’ll all set out to explore the Stampede trail out toward the notorious Savage and Teklanika Rivers. The terrain provides great riding; sometimes a little bouncy; always lots of fun. Floating through puddles is a favorite among our guests. There will be opportunities to stop and take photos – of Denali itself if weather permits. You’ll also get a chance to stroll along the Denali tundra and explore our wilderness pavilion site, complete with restroom and hot drinks, before returning from your ATV Adventure. We always do all we can to ensure that your Alaska Argo ATV Adventure is a highlight of your visit way up north!

Alaskan Picnic Tour

The Alaskan Picnic Tour provides guests an opportunity to get off the beaten path for a few hours (about 3 hours) in relative comfort. We visit the historic community of Healy Alaska, nearer to the Denali Park entrance than any other year-round community. We’ll visit several beautiful and historic sites around the area and hear about the place’s history, geology and character. We’ll pay a visit to Rose’s Café to pick up our pie and optional picnic meal before setting out the Stampede Road to see Denali and enjoy the sights at Denali Tundra Tours’ exclusive wilderness pavilion. The site overlooks 8-Mile lake and 8-Mile cabin, the only other man-made structures visible within the thousand square mile vista that unfolds from this ridge top perch. This place never fails to amaze us or our guests!
